Motorola MPx200 is a tri-band mobile phone for worldwide use, which comes in a clamshell-styled body. This phone is classified as a smartphone and is packed with useful features, including an MP3 player, Windows Media® Player for video and sound, voice memo recorder, speakerphone, active flip, voice activated dialling, and a Windows Mobile™ operating system.
There are dual displays in this phone: a large internal TFT LCD screen, with a 176 x 220 pixels resolution and supporting up to 65,536 colours, that provides the viewing for all the menus, pictures, video and games, etc; while a smaller external screen shows you caller ID, and can display two lines of text.
With its MMS capability the MPx200 allows you to send pictures, animations, and sound with your formatted text messages. There is no camera onboard, so you may receive and send video and still pictures but not create them, although an optional plug in camera is available if you need this facility. As this phone supports Windows Media® Player, you are also able to use streamed video (and MP3 tracks) received in MMS messages, or you can download these directly via the Web, WAP, and transfer them from your PC.
Being Java™ enabled you are able to run Java games and applications, with the option to download more of these programs as you need them. The MPx200 already has a large memory capacity at 10MB, which can store many games, applications and task management requirements, but there is also a SD/MMC card slot included on the phone, and so you have the possibility to expand the memory considerably.
Using the MPx200 is made easier because it has the Microsoft operating system Windows Mobile™. As the phone has built-in GPRS and WAP technology you are provided with the capability for fast Internet access, and again this phone provides familiarity through its onboard Pocket Internet Explorer® browser software, which gives you full access to surf the mobile Internet for the latest news, sport or shopping deals.
For those who like to engage in chat sessions, the MSN Messenger® is included amongst the phone’s applications. There is even a mobile version of Outlook, Pocket Outlook®, for handling your e-mail and contacts, and a full e-mail service is provided via the phone’s support for the standard POP3, SMTP and IMAP protocols.
Interfacing to compatible computers and PDAs is easily achieved, by using either the data cable connection or a wireless infrared link, so that you can transfer files and synchronise your personal data with the ActiveSync® application.
